I'm just not sure why this product got such a low rating. While I did not test all the recovery software out there, I have tried a quite a few when a friend deleted all her photos. For instance Recover My Files which was awarded second place here. Like so many others, it has the capability to salvage files from hard drives that won't boot. But it doesn't seem to be able to work without an operating Windows PC. Data Rescue is different. While Recover My Files is an 8meg program, Data Rescue is a 40 meg program. Thatâ??s because it has its own operating system and drivers so it can work alone with the damaged PC. That's a CRUCIAL difference putting Data Rescue in a different category than some other programs. As for other features and search capabilities, Iâ??ll leave that for others to discuss.
